A leader of the Cambodian Independent Teachers Association (CITA) and Cambodian Watchdog Council (CWC) declared that he will lead a big and peaceful demonstration against the Thai invasion of Cambodian territorial borders which had taken place since 15th July 2008, reports Khmer Express News.

Mr. Rong Chhun, president of CITA and CWC, said the upcoming demonstration, scheduled to take place on 15th July, will demand that Thailand withdraw its troops from the Preah Vihear areas and stop violating Cambodian territorial integrity. He added that, during the demonstration, his groups will also send a petition to Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva through the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh to demand that Thai troops stop invading Cambodian territories, respect the 1991 Paris Peace Accords as Thailand was one of the 19 signatories and demanded that Thailand respect the 1962 verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague that adjudicated to give ownership of Preah Vihear temple to Cambodia.

Mr. Rong Chhun said that the demonstration of 15th July will also urge the Cambodian government to lodge a complaint with the UN Security Council about the Thai invasion, non-compliance iwth the ICJ verdict, the 1991 Paris Peace Accords and the Asean Charters which stipulate about non-interferences and non-aggression among Asean member states.

Mr. Tith Sothea, spokesman for the government's Press and Quick Reaction Unit, said the government welcome the contributions of all citizens in the defence and protection of Cambodian territorial integrity, but added that the opposition parties should not use the people for their own political interests and gains by using the defence of Cambodian territorial integrity as a pretext.

News of a demonstration by Mr. Rong Chhun's group came at a time when a group of Thai ultra-nationalists planned to travel to uproot border posts at Ta Moan Toch temple on 2-3 May.
