Police and Military Police have on Monday, 5th April, raided a timber warehouse in Siem Reap that is owned by Canadia Bank, reports Radio free Asia.

Canadia Bank is owned by Oknha Pung Kheav Se and some sources said it also partly-owned by Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Mr. Tea Kim Sun said he cannot yet confirm whether the timbers are legal or illegal. If they are illegal, they will be seized and if they have been lawfully acquired the will be returned to the owner.

According to a guard at the warehouse, these timbers had been bought by Canadia Bank and stockpiled in the warehouse since 2004-2005.

In late March, approximately 1,100 cubic metres of illegal timbers had been seized in raids in Siem Reap. The major warehouses are mostly owned by powerful tycoons and officials from the ruling Cambodian People's Party.
